How to Insert a Blank Page Into a PDF

Inserting a blank page into an existing PDF is a small but common need, whether it's for a notes page, a section divider, or simply to force a document to end on an even page number for double-sided printing.

Choosing where to insert it

Decide whether the blank page goes before or after a specific existing page, and double-check the page count of your document beforehand so you're inserting at the position you actually intend, especially in a long document where miscounting by one page is an easy mistake.

Matching the page size

Make sure the inserted blank page matches the page size of the surrounding document, an A4 document with an accidentally inserted Letter-sized blank page will look inconsistent and may cause printing issues. Most insertion tools handle this automatically by matching the adjacent page, but it's worth confirming.

Blank pages for double-sided printing

If your document will be printed double-sided and needs new sections to always start on a right-hand (odd-numbered) page, inserting a blank page before certain sections is a standard way to force that alignment, the same technique used in professionally printed books.

Removing it later
