How to Convert PDF Pages to JPG or PNG

Sometimes a PDF just isn't the right format — you need to drop a page into a slideshow, a website, or a social post, and none of those want a PDF.

JPG or PNG?

JPG wins for pages with photos or complex color — it compresses well and keeps files small. PNG wins for mostly-text pages, diagrams, or line art, since it doesn't introduce the blurring JPG gets around sharp edges and text.

Picking a resolution

Low resolution is fine for on-screen viewing but turns pixelated fast if printed or zoomed. Any chance it'll be printed or shown large? Export higher, even if the file's bigger.

Multi-page documents

Most converters let you turn every page into its own image file (usually delivered as a zip) or just the pages you pick. Decide which one you need up front — re-running the whole thing for one missed page is an annoying extra step.

What you lose in the conversion

Once it's an image, any selectable text, links, or form fields are gone — it's just a picture now. Need the recipient to search or copy text? Keep the PDF, or send both.
